GTA 6 Trailer 3 Is Here - And It Broke Netflix
GTA 6 Trailer 3 arrived as An Extended Look on August 27, 2026 - 27 minutes of PS5 gameplay that topped Netflix film charts in dozens of countries.
The wait is over. GTA 6 Trailer 3 dropped on August 27, 2026 - except Rockstar didn’t call it Trailer 3. They called it Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, and instead of the two-minute cinematic everyone was braced for, we got nearly thirty minutes of gameplay captured on a base PlayStation 5.
It went out on Netflix first, exclusive for six hours, then hit YouTube and Rockstar’s own site. That is not how trailers work. That is how a streaming event works, and it landed like one.
Watch Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look Rockstar has the video age-restricted, so YouTube blocks it from playing on other sites. This opens it on YouTube.Wait - Was That Actually Trailer 3?
Officially, no. Rockstar never announced anything called Trailer 3, and they never used the name. What they announced was “An Extended Look”, and what they delivered was a gameplay showcase rather than a trailer.
In practice, yes. This is the thing the entire community spent a year calling Trailer 3, and it is the third major GTA 6 reveal after the December 2023 and May 2025 trailers. Everyone searching for Trailer 3 is looking for this. The name is the only part that didn’t match expectations.
If you want a sense of how far the bar moved: Trailer 1 was a mood piece, Trailer 2 showed characters and tone, and this one just handed over half an hour of the actual game.

The Numbers Are Genuinely Absurd
The Extended Look pulled 31.1 million views on Netflix in four days, per Netflix’s own Tudum charts as reported by Engadget, and hit number one on Netflix’s English-language film chart in 87 of the 93 countries the platform tracks, a figure Netflix’s Brandon Riegg gave and Complex reported. Engadget, counting the overall movie rankings, puts the number-one finishes at 58 countries.
Read that again. A video game reveal beat every film on Netflix, in almost every country Netflix operates in, at the same time. Rockstar put a gameplay demo on a movie streaming service and it outperformed the movies.
That is the part the industry will still be talking about in five years, regardless of how the game itself lands on November 19.
What’s Actually In It
The Six-Star Wanted System
The headline is the six-star wanted system - the first time GTA has gone past five stars in a mainline game, and a full rebuild rather than a bigger number.
The police now work on information rather than proximity. A crime has to be witnessed or trigger an alarm before it is reported at all. Once it is, the stars come with evidence icons showing what the cops actually know about you - your face, your clothes, your vehicle, whether CCTV caught you. Each one clears separately. Change clothes, ditch the car, get a haircut, split Jason and Lucia up, and you peel their information away piece by piece.
Cops also don’t appear on the minimap any more. You track them through the new Focus mechanic instead.
Everything Else the Showcase Confirmed
- Character switching is instant when Jason and Lucia are together, and takes a few seconds when they’re apart
- A Criminal Profile builds from how you behave in free roam, not just in missions
- The Jason and Lucia relationship is optional and can fail to develop if you don’t put time into it
- Your character physically deteriorates if you spend days on the run, and needs rest
- A karma system rewards decent behaviour, petting dogs included
- The minimap is 3D, showing building models
- Side activities run from kayaking and scuba diving to basketball, mini golf, pool, base jumping, backyard wrestling and gym memberships you have to actually buy
For how these mechanics compare to what was rumoured beforehand, we tracked the confirmed-versus-fake list in our breakdown of GTA 6 gameplay leaks.

The Two Things Rockstar Ruled Out
Alongside the showcase, Rockstar co-studio head Rob Nelson confirmed two absences that matter more than most of the features.
No Microtransactions in Single Player
There is no point in the story mode where you can spend real money. No cosmetics, no shortcuts, nothing. Nelson was explicit that this covers the single-player game launching on November 19 - what happens with the next version of GTA Online is a separate question Rockstar declined to answer.
No Generative AI
Nelson described the game as fully human-crafted, which matches what Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had said in February 2026, as reported by GameSpot: “Specifically with regards to GTA 6, Generative AI has zero part in what Rockstar Games is building.” For a game this size, shipping in 2026, that is a deliberate statement rather than a technical footnote. The whole record, patents included, is in our RAGE engine piece.
How Big Is The Map, Really
Nelson gave actual numbers rather than adjectives. The map is twice the size of GTA 5 and three times the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2. Vice City itself is twice the size of Los Santos.
The number that should stop you is this one: the built-up area outside Vice City is eleven times the built-up area outside Los Santos. GTA 5’s countryside was mostly scenery between destinations. This is not that.
If you want the district-by-district picture, we mapped what’s confirmed in our guide to every Vice City location.

Bottom Line
Trailer 3 arrived under a different name, in a different format, on a different platform, and was several times longer than anyone expected. Rockstar skipped the trailer entirely and just showed the game.
Seventy-seven days out from November 19, that reads as confidence. Studios sitting on problems release two-minute cuts of their best footage. They don’t hand you thirty unbroken minutes on the base console.
Compare it to where we started, in our Trailer 1 breakdown and Trailer 2 analysis - the jump from mood piece to full gameplay showcase is the whole story of this campaign.
TLDR (For lazy players) 😉
Q: Has GTA 6 Trailer 3 been released?
A: Yes. It arrived on August 27, 2026 as Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look - roughly thirty minutes of gameplay captured on a base PlayStation 5. Rockstar never used the name “Trailer 3”, but this is the third major reveal and the one the community had been waiting for.
Q: Where can I watch GTA 6 Trailer 3?
A: It premiered on Netflix, exclusive for six hours, then went to YouTube and Rockstar’s own site, where it remains free to watch. Rockstar has it age-restricted, which means YouTube blocks it from playing on other sites - so use the link at the top of this page to open it on YouTube.
Q: How many views did it get?
A: 31.1 million on Netflix in four days, per Netflix’s Tudum charts as reported by Engadget, and number one on Netflix’s English-language film chart in 87 of the 93 countries Netflix tracks, per Netflix’s Brandon Riegg via Complex.
Q: What was the biggest reveal?
A: The six-star wanted system. Police now build a profile of what they know about you - face, clothes, vehicle, CCTV - and each piece of evidence clears separately. A crime also has to be witnessed or set off an alarm before it is reported at all.
Q: Does GTA 6 have microtransactions?
A: Not in single player. Rockstar co-studio head Rob Nelson confirmed there is no point in the story mode where real money can be spent. Rockstar declined to comment on the next version of GTA Online.
Q: How big is the GTA 6 map?
A: Twice the size of GTA 5 and three times Red Dead Redemption 2’s playable area. Vice City alone is twice the size of Los Santos, and the built-up area outside the city is eleven times the equivalent area outside Los Santos.
Thirty unbroken minutes on a base PS5 reads as confidence to me. I'll be rewatching it.
